Fourth Annual United Methodist West District

Choir Festival

Greg Gilpin, the Director of Educational Choral Publications for Shawnee Press, Inc., Greg oversees creation of the educational music products for this distinguished publisher.

Greg Gilpin started playing the piano at age four and while continuing his music study in piano, trumpet, French horn and voice, became an accomplished accompanist for choirs     in school and his family's church.

By the time he entered college, he had developed a strong knowledge of choral music, and directed a church choir for over four years.

Originally from the “Show-Me” state of Missouri, Greg resides in Indianapolis.

He is a graduate of Northwest Missouri State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Vocal Music Education, K-12. His first choral works were published while a senior at Northwest Missouri State University.

Greg is a well-known, ASCAP award-winning choral composer and arranger with hundreds of publications to his credit. He is also in demand as a conductor for choral festivals, all-district and all-state choirs and is a member of MENC and ACDA.

At home in Indianapolis, Greg is busy as a studio musician and producer in the recording industry. These projects include commercial jingles, CD projects, Broadway and Disney. He has worked musically with Ray Boltz, Bill and Gloria Gaither, Sandi Patty, David Clydesdale as well as principle pops conductor, Jack Everly and the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra.

 

Participating Choirs at this time are:

The Festival will take place at Phoenix First UMC. 

- 1pm set up process as soon as the worship services are completed and the sanctuary is clear at Phoenix First

- 3:00pm sharp - rehearsal with the mass choir will begin. Plan to meet at 2:30pm, Because of the rehearsal time restraints and the organization needed, we are requesting that only adults be at the rehearsal. There will be seating available in front of the mass choir to accommodate those with special needs. Please let us know in advance if anyone needs assistance, so it can be planned accordingly.

 - 5:15 - individual choir rehearsals, if you act as both the director and accompanist for your choir we had several people come forward to offer their talents to help those choirs who may need an accompanist so you can direct them, let me know if you would like to have someone help you.

 - 5:00pm – 6:15pm, free time for meals and mingling,

 - 6:30pm – Festival Concert

 - 8:30pm, tear down crew will begin putting the sanctuary back to its original format.
